Now, they've become global ambassadors of homegrown Texas music. Their music balances the strengths they’ve accumulated along the way with a willingness to break old rules and open new doors.

Magoo

Magoo is a progressive bluegrass quartet from Denver, Colorado, redefining the boundaries of modern bluegrass with fearless creativity and world-class musicianship. Known for their dynamic live performances, the band delivers a powerful blend of intricate arrangements, tight three-part harmonies, and extended improvisations that bring new life to the genre.
Debutants
Friday, 9/11; 6:30pm
Debutants is a seven-piece “Indiana Newgrass” band from Fort Wayne, IN, blending bluegrass instrumentation with indie folk, Americana, and a fearless sense of exploration. Featuring guitar, mandolin, banjo, two fiddles, cello, and upright bass, the band delivers high-energy performances which always leaves audiences smiling.

Austin & the Syd Experience
Friday, 9/11; 5:00pm
A funk rock ensemble out of Columbus, OH, Austin & the Syd Experience is described as a sexy hybrid of hard rock, psychedelic soul and raw merciless fun. Guitar driven spacerock, thunder slap bass lines, in-the-pocket drumming back beat and powerful, gritty vocals all come together perfectly for a soul stirring, psychedelic jam.

The Motet

Formed over two decades ago, funk luminaries The Motet are an interlocking unit, with each member bolstering one another towards the best creative output. This symbiosis has led to a unique style and cohesive musical chemistry, as seen in the band's immaculate live performances and seamless blend of funk, soul, jazz, and rock.

Black Joe Lewis & the Honeybears
Saturday, 9/12; 8:00pm
Black Joe Lewis is an American blues, funk and soul artist influenced by Howlin' Wolf and James Brown. He formed Black Joe Lewis & The Honeybears in Austin, Texas, in 2007. In March 2009, Esquire listed Black Joe Lewis and the Honeybears as one of the "Ten Bands Set to Break Out at 2009's SXSW Festival."

Paul McDonald and the Mourning Doves

Black Swamp Arts Festival welcomes back Paul McDonald! Often compared to legends like Rod Stewart and Bob Dylan, his poetic narratives and catchy hooks combined with a raspy yet refined voice are reminiscent of an era that demands to be heard. His set is one you won't want to miss!

Brother Wallace

A true force of nature, Brother Wallace was born to make music that ignites pure joy, even in the darkest of moments. The Georgia-bred artist has followed his lifelong passion down an extraordinary path that spans from sharing the stage with gospel legend Kirk Franklin to performing at historic venues like Madison Square Garden.

Leadfoot Granny

Black Swamp Arts Festival veterans, Leadfoot Granny, are back to rock the swamp! Since 2024, they've been tearing up Toledo's rock scene with their powerful riffs, soulful lyrics, and impressive solos. Their performance is one that all ages will enjoy.

Sankofa Sounds

Sankofa Sounds is an Afro-Funk Fusion band based in Northwest Ohio that performs music from the African continent and diaspora. They are known for blending various musical styles and creating a unique sound that reflects their diverse backgrounds and influences.

Chris Canas

Black Swamp Arts Festival is bringing back the “Detroit’s Prince Of The Blues,” Chris Canas. Combining a mix of Blues, Funk, and Soul with heart -wrenching vocals, pulse pounding rhythms, and an electric energy that can be felt in the air. You won't want to miss this festival favorite.

Third Coast Swing
Sunday, 9/13; 12:00pm
Third Coast Swing is heavily influenced by the music of the late Belgium born Romani Gypsy, Django Reinhardt and his band, The Hot Club Of Paris 1930’-1940’s. Django’s music is steeped in tradition of a rich culture from Europe, and blended with Swing era jazz. Third Coast Swing specializes in the styles of Gypsy Swing, Gypsy Bossa, Bolero, French Musette & more.
